Abstract Artist in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Elisa Gomez is a professional abstract artist based in Sandy, Utah, serving collectors, interior designers, and commercial clients throughout Salt Lake City and the greater Salt Lake Valley. Her practice centers on nature-inspired paintings in oil and acrylic on canvas, and large-scale murals for commercial and residential interiors. Original paintings, custom commissions, and mural projects are available by inquiry from her studio, fifteen minutes from downtown Salt Lake City.

Nature-Inspired Abstract Art, Rooted in Utah's Landscape

Utah's landscape is not incidental to Elisa Gomez's practice. The light coming off of the Wasatch Range, the tonal stillness of the Great Salt Lake, and the geological color embedded in the region's rock formations inform the palette and gesture of her abstract work without depicting them literally. Color becomes movement. Texture becomes atmosphere.

Each canvas is built through successive layers of acrylic, oil, and oil pastel. The accumulation of these materials creates the surface quality the work is known for: visible mark-making, rich drips, and a depth that reads differently at different distances from the wall. The result is a painting that carries the weight and scale of the natural world into interior spaces.

Original Paintings and Mural Work for Salt Lake City

Elisa Gomez Art offers two primary services for Salt Lake City clients: original studio paintings and custom mural commissions.

Studio paintings range from intimate works at 8 by 10 inches on paper or panel to large-format canvases reaching as large 76 by 54 inches or bigger, with triptych installations often spanning approximately 98 inches. The Floral Collection translates botanical forms into expressive gestural compositions built from layered acrylic and oil pastel. The Midnight Collection works in deep tonal palettes suited to residential and commercial interiors. The Espontánea series and Recent Work are also available for inquiry.

Salt Lake City has an active and growing mural culture. With over 266 murals citywide, The Blocks downtown cultural district anchoring 80 public art installations, and the Granary District's warehouse-scale painted surfaces, the city provides a strong context for large-scale painted commissions. Elisa's mural practice serves commercial property owners, hospitality operators, and residential clients seeking site-specific painted environments. The city's Percent for Art ordinance, established in 1984, also creates funded pathways for public art commissions.

Serving Salt Lake City's Design and Collector Community

Elisa Gomez Art works with interior designers across Salt Lake City's established residential neighborhoods: The Avenues, East Bench, Federal Heights, and Sugar House. Commercial clients in the downtown core and The Blocks district have also engaged the studio for large-format paintings and mural installations. For designers, the studio offers scale consultations, palette discussions, and in-person viewing at the Sandy location.

The Salt Lake City area supports one of the most concentrated collector populations in the Mountain West. The inaugural Salt Lake Art Show, held at Sandy Expo Center in May 2026 and drawing 50 galleries and over 100 artists, reflects the region's growing appetite for fine art acquisition. Elisa exhibited at the show, alongside galleries from across the country.

Commission a Painting to Scale

For collectors and designers with a specific space in mind, the studio accepts commissions for original abstract paintings sized to requirement.

The process begins with a conversation: the dimensions of the space, the dominant palette, the architectural context, and the mood the client wants to establish within the room.

Each commission produces a new original work on canvas, panel, or paper. Commissions are not adaptations of existing pieces. Price is available upon request. Timeline is discussed during the inquiry process and varies with scale and complexity.
