Taking Care with Art

It's hard to believe February is already here, and that we have had yet another show at Park City Frame & Gallery! It was a wild run leading up to the exhibit as I prepared for this, the smaller works for next month, and a mural this week. The temperature of the nation took a turn a few weeks ago, and I think no matter what party you support or side of the aisle you sit, no one wants to see humans getting their dignity and lives stripped from them. As the grandchild of immigrants, it should be no secret what side I sit, and what issues I support. It's not detention centers for children and families brave enough to look for a better life, it's not seperation and it's not us against them. It is all of us together. I am so proud of where I come from and with that said, was so happy to have a portion of the sales from my pieces sold at Park City Frame & Gallery go to the National Immigration Law Center and will continue to support this group with future sales from my website this month. My work is not visually political, but art is an act of human expression, and this is mine. I will continue to use my art to express my emotional landscape and hopefully lift myself and those around me up. I've seen some beautiful acts of kindness these past few weeks and performances demonstrating love over hate well (Hola Bad Bunny!) so I know we can all make a positive impact if we all try together.
As always, Thank You for your support! Elisa |
